The developer jokingly notes enjoy CRT nostalgia but I think the rounded corners are actually kind of nice looking with the rest of the Mac OS X GUI. Now you can bring those smooth rounded corners back with Displaperture (say that ten times fast).
But now, between Big Sur’s new look and the fact that other Apple devices have displays with actual rounded corners, I feel like the time is right to bring them back to the Mac. Prior to Mac OS X 10.5, your Mac’s desktop had rounded screen corners. The funny thing is, the Mac’s menu bar actually had rounded corners for the longest time – just drawn that way in pixels, since the displays themselves were (and still are) rectangular – but they were removed in Mac OS X Leopard.
